Being a Patron

The Audience is precious not only because the ACTORS want someone to play to, but because the magic of the community impulse can only work when you enter into this silent covenant, dispel disbelieve, allow us to take you places and also to be a small part of your life. Many of you keep asking: " So when will you's put on the next play" and this expectation of things to come is a responsibility to live up to.

But your part is not a passive one either. For one you got to book a ticket, dial that phone-number and turn up on the night. You of course will buy a programme and raffle tickets because you understand that the amazing facilities of what is the Town Hall need to be maintained and enhanced and you will do your part.

Some of you, who are very precious to us, the older and younger ones will turn up at our preview night and hold the hand of still nervous actors, assured by your good will. And because of your good will you may be chauffeured by an army of volunteers to make sure you turn up and get home safely.

And some of you will support the Gala Opening because you realise that the proceeds will support community impulses and good causes connected to the wider community of Kilcullen, and turn up in great attire with dresses and suits not worn every day, ready for speeches and cheese and wine.

Yet more importantly all of you will fear for the actors and feel with them because you know that at a different time or in a different life they are no different then you, they might be your son's or daughter's teacher, they might serve you your doctor's prescriptions, or sell you your suit, or cut your hair - their story might be yours and who knows whether you might take a part in the future. And knowing this makes this experience special, because you are not just going to the theatre, you are coming to join them, and deep down you know that you and them is really all the one...we are all in this together.
